Semax (10mg)

Synthetic ACTH (4–10) analogue heptapeptide. Semax is a seven-amino-acid peptide derived from the ACTH (4–10) fragment with a Pro-Gly-Pro tail that makes it stable. It was developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics in Moscow and has been used in Russia as a nasal product for stroke and cognitive indications; elsewhere it is a research compound.

BDNF signalling: hippocampal neurotrophin expression. Neuroprotection: ischaemia and oxidative-stress models. Attention and memory: rodent learning tasks. Monoamine modulation: serotonin and dopamine turnover. Russian clinical studies report improved outcomes in ischaemic stroke and attention tasks. Rodent studies (Dolotov et al.) show BDNF upregulation and improved learning in maze tests. Independent Western trials are lacking.

Reported as well tolerated in the Russian literature, with no hormonal activity. No Western controlled safety data exist.
